Autumn Threw Up on Me

Autumn leaves brings...snow? Yeah, the saying doesn't really work for this time of year, but that doesn't mean it can't still be exciting. Say hello again to layer without sweating like a fat guy at the gym, the oxblood lip that everyone has been dying to wear since it exploded into popularity last fall, and warm drinks that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside again. You aren't sick of cold weather yet, so might as well enjoy it while you still love it. With autumn, means some life changes...like clothes, makeup, and the everything else. Here are the essentials I pull out of the top bin of my closet, giving a little dusting, and rock all season long.

First, let's address the greatest piece of fashion that you can finally wear when fall comes around: blanket scarves. It's a blanket...that you can wear...and it's fashionable. I don't even know why I have to explain anymore, but I will. I am a lover of blanket scarves when it comes to the fall time. Not only do they keep you incredibly warm since it's a blanket around your neck, but it can also add that litter extra something that turns your basic jeans and a t-shirt into a really cute outfit. Stock up because they are a lifesaver!

Next we've got the always lovely flannels. I think what's so great about flannels is that you can wear them so many different ways. They are that perfect extra layer that you need in the fall time, that are so incredibly comfortable, it's like wearing your pjs out in public...but much cuter.

If you want to go for a preppy chick, you can do that by just slipping a knit sweater over your flannel. Fold the sleeves over, add some chunky jewelry, and you've got a polished fall look. The plaid adds a great pop of color to neutral pants and a sweaters.

Flannels are also the perfect fall cardigan. Pick up an oversized one and throw it over any outfit for a pop of color and some warmth and a touch of fall on those warmer fall days when you don't need the full coat, hat gloves, etc.

Turn your favorite flannel into a cute accessory by tying it around your waist. It adds a great laid-back vibe to any look, and you can easily slip it on if you get a little chilly.

The last fashion item that I definitely stock up on during the fall time are socks! My collection of fall and winter fuzzy socks is ever expanding. I love to tuck them into short booties and sport them during the winter. Fuzzy socks might just be one of the greatest things about cold weather.

Let's turn to beauty products, shall we. I'm definitely excited to bring back the dark lippies. A dark lip add a polished touch to a look. It's the "wow" factor of the look, and it makes it look like you really tried with your makeup (even if you didn't). Pull out those lovely deep reds, oxbloods, and dark purples and (of course) remember to toss your lip liner in your makeup bag. Matte or glossy...you do you, girl! If you're not ready for the dark lip plunge, try out a your lips but darker color. Think 90's brownish pink lips. You still get the deep tones for fall, but it's a bit more subtle.

Nail colors get a big makeover between seasons. Hello dark nails again. I am a sucker for dark nails, so fall might just be one of my favorite nail seasons of the year.

Try and experiment with some matte top coats too. It can add a really cool, modern vibe to whatever color you choose. No matter what finish, let your nails shine in the fall with a deep color that pops off your pale autumn skin.

Even though the weather may not be getting warmer, keep warm with some lovely warm eye shadows on your lid. The warm shades go perfectly with a deep lip in the fall time. If you want to kick it up a notch, add some golden, shimmery shades to the lid or a deep maroon color in the crease. Just keep it dark and warm.

Last but not least...let's get real. You can finally drink hot drinks from Starbucks again. Hello Grande Hot Chocolate! When you don't like coffee, but you still love Starbucks...

Stay classy,
Molly
