DIY Interval Workout Just Using Stairs

Yes, I am talking about those dreaded things you walk up and down a dozen times every day in your house. Now you can use them to create your own interval workout! Doing stairs is a great cardio, so incorporate it into any workout you have. I always saw these workouts around Pinterest, but I had never really tried one before. I finally did, and I died! It was awesome.

Trust me this is a great workout you can do whenever you just don't want to go running outside in bellow freezing weather for the cardio portion of your workout. Then in the summer, just find some stairs near your house, and you can do them outside too! If you don't have any workout gear at home, fear not. You do! Now here is how it works.

Write down six exercises that you would like to do. They can be focused on abs, arms, legs, or the entire body. You make it your own. Start the workout by running up and walking down your stairs five times. Then complete two of the exercises. Follow each set of two exercises with five more sets of stairs until you have completed all six. Then repeat 1-2 more times.

Still a little confused? Here is an example of one that I found that I really like to do. It's a great full body workout.

-5x stairs
-10 push-ups
-20 squats
-5x stairs
-1 min. plank
-20 alternating lunges
-5x stairs
-10 burpees
-1 min. plank
-5x stairs

Just fill in the exercises you like, and then complete the workout! It's a great cardio and strength training workout that will have you sweating in no time. Just tweak it to your liking and go!

Good luck with your New Years fitness resolutions! Just include this workout a couple times a week, and you will be on your way!
