The "One Part Focus" Rule for Fast Makeup

Deciding what to do with your makeup in the morning when you might only have five or ten minutes to get ready can be a bit stressful. However, there is one rule I like to follow with my makeup when I am on a time crunch: the One Part Focus rule. Essentially, this means you just focus on one aspect of your face and leave the rest of your makeup minimal. This way you aren't spending too much time on your entire face, and you are just focusing more on one part. Here are my tips to achieving a look using the One Part Focus rule.

Summer Vacation Essentials

With a few family trips planned for the second half of my summer, I decided to channel my excitement into a post all about vacation essentials. I'm not going to go through everything in my suitcase because that would take forever. Instead, I'm just going to focus on a few unique pieces that people tend to forget and other essentials I think are important.

Lovely Things

I haven't sat down and just talked about the things I love in quite some time now. I am so grateful for summer to be in full swing now. Being back home and having all of this extra time on my hands, I've been able focus on this things I really love. I thought I would talk about a few items that have become staples in my life and activities I've gotten back into.

Skincare

I'm the type of person who has always been quite hesitant about change. I like routine and would rather not break it. Sometimes I'm completely opposite of that, though. Sometimes I just want to go out and try everything, like with skincare...until recently (see that transition I did there? *raises eyebrows* I thought it was rather clever...not really...I just couldn't think of anything. Anyway...). For the past ten years (maybe more) I have loved experimenting with skincare. Though I had constant struggles of trying to find the best products to combat the different issues on my face, I secretly also enjoyed trying out so many new things. I was determined to find something that worked for me, that wasn't prescribed by a dermatologist. I felt that to be too limiting, and prescription products are always so expensive. I knew I could find a cheaper alternative.

Lovely Things from February

At the end of each month I like to reflect on some of the things that made the month memorable and just the things that made my happy. It's hard to believe that February 1st I was just coming back from winter break and now I am in full swing of the new semester, with one month under my belt. It has been a stressful, exciting, busy, but worth-while time. I made a few memories, cracked a few smiles, and now I'm ready for March to come, hopefully with some warm weather too. Here are just a few favorites from the month of February.

January Loves: Beauty + Music + Photos

January was such a lovely month for me. I got to spend the entire time with my family, relaxing at home. With so much time off, I was actually ready to come back to school (just not ready to leave my perfect sleeping schedule of ten hours every night). Anyway, I'm back at school with a fresh start. February will bring may new experiences, but I thought I would look back at a few things I loved this past month.

Almost every hairstyle I see on Pinterest looks so incredibly beautiful that I feel I could never do something like that by myself. Beauty Loves of 2015

To wrap up this week's review of my 2015 loves, I wanted to share a few hair and beauty products that really stuck out for me this year. I am constantly changing my routine when it comes to hair and beauty, so it really says something if I stuck to it for so long. Here are just a few things that have really hit the spot for me this year.

Makeup Loves of 2015

At the beginning of the new year, I always love to find out what people have been loving most the previous year. I find it to be the most surefire way you are finding out their must haves since they haven't just been using them for a few weeks. They have really put it to the test of time. Because of this, I want to share with you all what I have loved all year long, hoping it will help you. Today I will be discussing the makeup products that I have just purchased over and over again in 2015.

Don't Confuse Contours With Bronzers

Contouring has become such a huge thing in the beauty community, and I can't believe it took me so long to get on the boat. Many people confuse contours and bronzers, so I'm here to set the records straight for you. Yes, they are two different aspects of beauty and this is why.

No-Makeup Makeup for Class

Now, let's tell the truth here. Sleep is a prized possession once the school year starts again. With everything I do, I usually don't shut my eyes until after midnight most nights. That means I wake up almost every morning not quite refreshed and ready for the day. Some big decisions need to be made in your lie with how you should spend your time in the morning. Unfortunately, taking twenty minutes to do my makeup is not a priority. Though I love makeup, sleep takes priority most nights. Don't get me wrong, I look like dead in the mornings so I like to add a little bit. Here is my go-to routine for mornings with early classes.

Autumn Threw Up on Me

Autumn leaves brings...snow? Yeah, the saying doesn't really work for this time of year, but that doesn't mean it can't still be exciting. Say hello again to layer without sweating like a fat guy at the gym, the oxblood lip that everyone has been dying to wear since it exploded into popularity last fall, and warm drinks that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside again. You aren't sick of cold weather yet, so might as well enjoy it while you still love it. With autumn, means some life changes...like clothes, makeup, and the everything else. Here are the essentials I pull out of the top bin of my closet, giving a little dusting, and rock all season long.

Beauty Loves of Auguast

August was a month chalk full of new beauty and makeup products. Further more, new makeup and beauty products that I have been loving. With no Sephora anywhere near my collage, I knew I had to stock up on some things before leaving. Here are just a few of the products that have been my go-to this past month and that I will continue to keep in my makeup back this next month.

Monthly Loves: July

As people always say, August is like the Mondays of the year. It sucks. It's always a sad time when July finally ends because you come to realize that your summer is ending. One thing to look forward to is fall fashion, which everyone knows is the greatest season for the true fashionista (I feel like that is such a cliché word, but I couldn't think of anything else.) Here are a just a few things I've loved this month, that I kinda think everyone needs in their life.

Instagram Worthy Curls

It has taken years to perfectly curl my hair. It's just quite a unique process for those with extremely thick hair, though. I thought that I would share my findings with the rest of the world and let all of you know how I curl my hair. Maybe I could save some lives with this post. You never know.

How My Hair Has Looked every Day This Summer

Okay, I might be exaggerating a tiny bit when I say "every day," but...pretty close. We are all aware of the fact that for some unknown reason, we all become extremely lazy in the summer time. I believe that the hot weather might have some effect on that, or you can come up with your own excuse. Back to the point, a full face of makeup and doing your hair every day just doesn't seem practical anymore. For this reason, they invented the half up top knot.

June Loves

Hello, time? Yes, it's you. Um...SLOW DOWN! My summer is almost half way over, and I can't deal! I feel like I just did my May Loves post! I have no idea how those thirty days got away from me so quickly. However, in those thirty days, I managed to come up with a couple favorites for the month. Here they are.

I've Done a Little Sephora Shopping

My excitement from walking into Sephora is pretty ridiculous. You see, I am one of those people who squeals louder when I drop a makeup product than when I drop my phone. These are the two types of people in the world. My eagerness to go to Sephora has gotten a little out of hand, and I have gotten several products from Sephora, spending more money than I would like to admit. I thought that since I have taken the plunge to purchase these products, I would haul them for you all and give a little first impression of each of them.

4 Beauty Rules I Lack the Motivation to Follow

Let's get one thing clear. I am selectively picky about things. I can be an extremely neat and organized person at some things, while at others, I am the laziest one. Here are just a few beauty tasks that someone like me should be doing, but lack motivation to do so. Step one admitting to the problem at hand, so here is my addition in my effort to conquer.

Light Summer Makeup in Five Minutes

To be completely honest, I love/hate makeup in the summer. There will be some days that I don't wear makeup because I just don't feel like it. If I have no plans, I find it unnecessary. However, there will be other days in the summer when I do a full face of makeup before heading out to run a few errands just because I have the time. When I don't have the time, and I want to do a little something to my face, here are my go to products.
